March brings the lightest pow to play in!

9 Feet of snow has fallen in the month of March with the forecast predicting a steady onslaught of powders still to come. March tends to be one of the best times to ski at Crystal. A big snowpack to cover everything, longer days, tons of fresh powder as we have witnessed the past few weeks, and the best deals on lodging and lift tickets.

Skiing in bounds and out, March can be the best time to get out and enjoy the mountains.

Crystal Mountain Hotels has an awesome deal for skiing in march....prices are the best of the season including weekends and lift tickets.

1st Annual Retro Ski Wear Party at the Elk

The First Annual Retro Ski Wear Party was a party not to be missed. Crystal Mountain Ski Patrol won the party hands down. A new bar was set by ski patrol for costumes, dance moves and staying up and getting up the next day at 4:30 am.
The judges panel was comprised of Martin Rand, Diane and Louie Gebonini, Julie and Brent Okita, and Denise and Bob Reeves. They had a tough job that night. Keneta Andersen, Mike, Corey, Dustin, Lizzy, Ryan all represented well and the final decisions came down to not only costume choice, but their slick moves as well.
The first place team went to "the Cougars" comprised of Corey, Mike, Amy, Michelle, and Debbie. a 20 person Apres Ski party was awarded to them.
Lizzy Follis won the inidividual women's division beating a close decision with Keneta Anderson. Follis won a $50 gift certificate to the Alpine Inn Restaurant.
Corey won the male division with a hard fought competition with hot green pants guy. Corey won a gift certificate as well.
Look out for the Dirt bag ball based on the performance of the ski patrol at this one- looks like they are in the element here as much as they are in the pow.

Ahh the pain of a powderless month has ended for the moment. 7 inches of dry fluffy pow came down tuesday afternoon. Wednesday morning we woke to a bluebird day with no one in line and barely a track in Silver Basin for most of the day. Thursday the basin still had plenty of untracked fluff to slash. Nothing is better than a bluebird powderday midweek at Crystal.

Win big with your best retro ski wear costume at the Snorting Elk!

The Snorting Elk Cellar is hosting the first "Retro Ski Wear" Party on February 25. Local judges will be on hand to evaluate and judge the best team's outfits and award an Apres ski party at the Snorting Elk. Gather your team- those you work or ski closest with and plan some outfits from your favorite ski era. Remember the early days of snowboarding- was it the horrible hats or the purple? what about 80's one piece ski suits with shoulder pads? or super tight pants that wouldn't button? Aaahh the list goes on...get your crew together and join us on February 25th to celebrate the good, the bad, the ugly and lots of fun.
Teams should comprise between 4- 10 people. Winners will take home an apres ski party for 20 at the elk. The rest will take home lots of laughs....
